Budgam, Apr 01 (KNO): The district development council (DDC) chairperson Budgam will face a no- confidence motion on April 7, the first such test for head of a third-tier Panchayati Raj system in Jammu & Kashmir. The deputy commissioner Budgam has convened a meeting of the council on April 7 for consideration of no -confidence motion against DDC chairperson Budgam Nazir Ahmad Khan. The notice, a copy of which is in possession of news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) states that a meeting of the council has been scheduled at 11:30 am at its office on April 7. The move comes after High Court directed authorities to address the no- confidence motion against DDC chairperson. In the 2024 Assembly elections, several DDC members including Khan plunged into fray, but most of them proved unsuccessful and even a few of them, including DDC chairperson Baramulla, forfeited deposit. However, three DDC members- Irfan Hafiz Lone, Mehraj Malik and Waheed-ur- Rehman Para- emerged victorious in the polls—(KNO)
